PIO DINAGAT ISLANDS โ€“ In a message delivered by Provincial Health Officer Vin Johan Manlapaz during the Flag Raising Ceremony held today, May 26, 2025, at the Provincial Garage, Brgy. Cuarinta, San Jose, Dinagat Islands, she reported that there are no confirmed cases of MPOX in the province. However, there are two (2) suspected cases currently under observation.

According to her, it is not necessary to wait for a confirmed case before taking action; instead, appropriate measures must already be implemented by following prevention protocols and guidelines. It was learned that the two suspected individuals had recently visited Siargao and returned home showing symptoms such as fever and skin rashes. Nonetheless, the public is advised not to worry as the individuals are currently in isolation.

The MPOX virus can be transmitted through respiratory droplets, sexual contact, and skin-to-skin contact. There is currently no vaccine or definitive treatment available; health workers can only provide supportive care.
