It can be recalled that in February of last year, the groundbreaking ceremony for the road project from Barangay Cuarinta to Manoligao Watershed was officially conducted. Yesterday, March 19, 2026, the Provincial Government of Dinagat Islands, under the leadership of Governor Nilo P. Demerey, Jr., MPM, through the Provincial Engineering Office led by Provincial Engineer Lord Iveen T. Maybuena and Project Engineer Lone Guy Romano, held the turnover ceremony for the newly completed 1.5-kilometer concrete road.
The said project costs PHP 14.9 million and was funded under the provincial government’s 20% development fund. It is one of the priority projects aimed at addressing access issues to the Manoligao Watershed, especially during maintenance activities and emergencies involving personnel from the water district going to the Manoligao Dam.
In his message, Governor Nilo P. Demerey, Jr., emphasized the importance of the project—not only for easier monitoring and inspection of the watershed and the Manoligao Dam, but also because it greatly helps farmers and fishermen transport their goods to the market more efficiently. Additionally, it contributes to economic development, as vendors may soon be able to set up along the area, which is also envisioned to become a future “joggers’ lane.”
The turnover ceremony was led by Governor Demerey, Jr., together with Barangay Captain Marieto Gajelloma, Board Member Nilo Marco M. Demerey, Board Member Pastor Debbie Durano, Board Member Ali Adlawan, Board Member Jaypee Espares, Board Member Jojo Mejos, barangay officials, residents of Barangay Cuarinta, and several department heads.
