Seoul, Republic of Korea — In a landmark effort to expand global opportunities for the people of Dinagat Islands, Governor Nilo P. Demerey Jr., MPM stood proudly at the National Parliament of the Republic of Korea together with Mindanao Development Authority Secretary Leo Magno, members of the Philippine delegation, and high-ranking officials from the Republic of Korea.
The objective of the visit was to strengthen partnerships that would create more opportunities for the deployment of skilled Filipino workers — particularly from the Province of Dinagat Islands — to South Korea.
This diplomatic engagement marks a significant milestone in the province’s pursuit of international cooperation, workforce development, and global competitiveness. Recognized worldwide for its strong labor governance, advanced industries, and high regard for migrant workers, South Korea offers a promising environment where strengthened collaboration can bring meaningful and long-term benefits to Dinagatnons seeking employment abroad.
Governor Demerey’s presence at the National Parliament represents more than a formal diplomatic courtesy. It symbolizes hope, ambition, and the resilient spirit of the Dinagatnons. This journey serves as a reminder that Governor Demerey’s leadership goes beyond territorial boundaries, and that true public service means seeking opportunities wherever they may best serve the people.
