Dinagat Islands is now under State of Calamity

The Sangguniang Panlalawigan of the Province of Dinagat Islands has officially declared the entire province under a State of Calamity through Sangguniang Panlalawigan Resolution No. 25-2666, during its session held at the Provincial Operations Center on November 5, 2025.

Aftermath of Typhoon Kalmaegi (Locally: “Tino”) on Dinagat Islands

The Dinagat Islands faced severe weather conditions as Typhoon Tino (international name Kalmaegi) made landfall near the municipality of Loreto on November 3, 2025. With maximum sustained winds of up to 150 km/h and gusts reaching 205 km/h, the typhoon brought intense rainfall, strong winds, and life-threatening coastal surges across the province.

Prior to landfall, local authorities conducted preemptive evacuations in several coastal barangays, relocating more than 7,000 residents to designated evacuation centers. This early action, led by the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC), helped prevent widespread casualties despite significant flooding and structural damage.
